Art in some form or the other has shown their association with the human species starting from our existence. The first form of art that we began to express was rock carving(petroglyphs) followed by relief sculptures ie sculptures carved in wood and stone in the solid background of the same materials. An important ancient art style is  Romanesque, a European art form that was prevailing in 1000AD, which aimed at promoting messages of the bible, many ancient art forms were meant for religious purposes and was confirmed to a particular region.

CONTEMPORARY ART Vs MODERN ART

Modern art; the word is quickly misleading, we may think that it is modern-day or the present time art but no! modern art started in the 19th century with artists showing courage to step out from the traditional way of thinking. Bringing new viewpoints or experimenting with new ideas in their artwork. There are many movements connected with modern art they are impressions, fauvism, cubism, futurism, expressionism, dada, surrealism, abstract expression, and pop art. And the most influential one was cubism with Pablo Ruiz Picasso and Georges Braque being the pioneers in this field. The legendary Picasso's painting revolutionized even other art fields.

DEFINITION OF CONTEMPORARY ART

A clear-cut definition or its evolutionary time cannot be given for many of the art forms. so we can say that contemporary art form was started somewhere after the post-world war-ll and it is free from the "ism's" (fauvism, futurism, etc) attached to modern art. It is the present-day art form and its disciplines are as follows:

Contemporary art mainly expresses emotions, ideas and gives freedom for the artist to inspire people with their artwork. The multitalented Filipino people transform things into masterpieces in a skillful way, sculpture, painting, and dance are the most familiar art form among Filipinos. Their importance is that they apply their creativity in their day-to-day life whether it be weaving, pot making, fishing, craft, etc.

There are several talented artists here, prominent among them are  Ildefonso Santo, who is known as the father of philippine landscape architecture, or philippine folk dancer Alice Reyes considered the legendary contemporary dancer in the Philippines. Ernest Concepcion, a studio artist whose paintings, sculptures, and installations tell us stories about intense emotion which make him stand out from other artists and the 13th award winner of the cultural center of the Philippines. Ronald venture, Andres barrioquito, Elmes borlongan, Jose john Santo and many more artists who are getting world attention nowadays and even more talented artists should be encouraged! rather than film and film artists who carry away all the fame and financial staus than artists of another discipline.
